Love Fashion, Love NY: The Met Gala, 2021
Arguably the most anticipated and spectacular annual fashion moment, this year’s Met Gala rounded off New York Fashion Week’s return, following 2020’s unexpected hiatus.
Typically held on the first Monday in May, every year the gala celebrates the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, opened to the public on September 18, in the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
Co-Chairs for this year’s event were Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka and Amanda Gorman, with countless A-list celebrities pausing for a moment on the iconic Met staircase, to showcase haute couture visions and one-of-a-kind interpretations of the exhibition theme. Guests included Zoë Kravitz, Lily-Rose Depp, Sharon Stone, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
What We Love Most about the Met Gala
Beyond the stunning old-world charm of the Metropolitan Museum, or the opportunity to spot the celebrities whose style we most admire, is the grand reassurance that fashion – no matter the theme, occasion or setting – is open to interpretation. A moving, morphing enigma; an actualised representation of the limitless possibilities that get dreamt up in the minds of its finest creators.
The Met Gala may be an exclusive event, but fashion itself is inherently for all. A tool of expression, a celebration of culture, movement, social change and global trends, fashion gives us the freedom to display our true selves. To wear what resonates with our experiences, values and journey, experimenting with colours, shapes, patterns, fabrics and styles.
To reimagine silhouettes, break down archaic rules and continually evolve our looks. To refine and redefine our aesthetic without boundaries. To us, this is the core and foundation and essence of P.E Nation.
P.E Edit – The Smart Sibling to Streetwear
While P.E Nation is and always will be Active Streetwear for an Urban Life Lived at Fast Pace, our P.E Edit collections are a reflection of the needs of those inevitably more elevated moments among any multi-faceted day.
Each limited-edition capsule brings a selection of heightened silhouettes, premium fabrications, supreme athleisure pieces, ritzy leisure suits, or sport-casual blazers that transform a style moment from laidback to luxurious.
Shot on location at the New South Wales State Library on the upmarket side of Sydney’s CBD, our latest P.E Edit campaign needed to be exquisite – in both its location and architectural appeal. We wanted this public space, a quiet place of service, where anyone is welcome to come in and open a book, to help tell Edit’s story: elevated looks for all.
P.E Nation, too, is intended for all. To expand your style, play with shape, clash your colours. To be bold. To be yourself. To support your day, to express your story, to feel connected to community, to lean into the true confidence that lies within. To be free. To love it all. To do the thing. To take risks. To live it up. Your life armour, for all the moments to come.
